Through his artistic experiences there, he developed his unique style and held several solo and group exhibitions. Following the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1994, Khalil decided it was time to return to his homeland, Palestine. Since then, he has participated in numerous art exhibitions both inside and outside Palestine and has won many awards, the most prestigious being the Jury Award at the Alexandria Biennale in 2000. In 2002, he founded, along with several artists, the "Visual Arts Forum" (formerly known as the Young Artists Forum) to teach plastic arts, attract and nurture enthusiasts, and promote visual arts as a tool to enhance Palestinian identity, expression, change, and free thought.
