Advocacy

The program’s vision: Using visual arts to raise awareness of the Palestinian society about its life issues, whether at the social, human, political, or economic levels, including human values ​​such as respect for others, honesty, justice, human rights, gender, social justice, freedom of opinion and expression, environmental preservation, equality, and the rights of children, women, and people with special needs. In addition to reaching out and pressuring official and governmental bodies to enhance the role of visual arts in community development through legislation, laws, budgets.

Core intervention: developing and implementing art and intellectual community activities, workshops and public events to raise awareness in controversial issues, specific social and national topics, commemorating a global day. As well as influencing regulations that affect art and artists in Palestine, in partnerships with local and international institutions. Interventions include:

  • Drawing and producing murals
  • Conduct activities, workshops and public events using arts
  • Organizing conferences and festivals
  • writing articles in the field of visual arts.

Program’s objectives:

  • Enhance the understanding of human, children and women’s rights, civil participation, rights of free opinion and respecting the opinion of the other.
  • Increasing the awareness for decision makers in the importance of art as a main tool in the development of nations, as well as enhancing community awareness in the importance of visual arts as a tool for emotional, character, profession/career development and advancement.
  • Influence and change through visual arts as an effective tool that emulates society and official bodies.
  • Effective community participation in the process of change, impact, finding solutions, pressure, and influence.
  • Contributing to enhancing awareness among the local and global community on the pivotal humanitarian, social and political Palestinian story and cause.

Core strategic outputs:

  • Increasing cultural awareness in the visual arts as a tool that all types of society can use to convey a message or issue and find ways to solve, promote, pressure and change.
  • Employing the visual arts as a tool for expression, change, development and free thought.
  • The ability of society to express the social, political, and economic landscape and practice it voluntarily.
  • Promoting Palestinian identity and national belonging and communicating the Palestinian story through murals and events.
  • Participation of schools and universities in the process of change and awareness through visual arts.

Target group:

  • School students in different educational levels from 5 to 18 years old.
  • Students of universities, colleges and institutes from the Faculty of Arts and others.
  • Governmental and private institutions and decision makers.
  • The local community, including Palestinian families and families.
  • The international community official and nonofficial organizations and individuals.
