Ink Urban Sketching Workshop

Step into the vibrant world of urban sketching with our exciting workshop focused on ink techniques and urban perspective! Over six immersive sessions, you'll dive deep into the streets and neighborhoods of Ramallah city, learning to capture the energy and essence of city life with a focus on the old city of Ramallah using the timeless medium of ink.

From mastering the fundamentals of perspective drawing to infusing ink in your sketches with depth, texture, and atmosphere, our workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of urban ink sketching techniques. Guided by VAF’s artist instructors, you'll develop your skills in capturing architectural details, and infusing your artwork with personality and flair.

Whether you're an artist or a curious beginner, our workshop provides a supportive and inspiring environment to unleash your creativity and enhance your skills. Join us on this artistic journey and discover the thrill of urban sketching in ink.

Artist instructor: Yazan Abu Salameh

Yazan Abu Salamah was born in 1993 in Jerusalem. He studied Fine Arts at Dar Al-Kalima College in Bethlehem in 2011 and participated in several workshops including scenography at Al Quds College in Beit Jala. Abu Salameh’s artworks reflect the courage of a young artists in terms of the use and distribution of materials on the surface of his artworks. He uses a mixture of concrete, pebbles, wires mixed with Lego blocks and drawings. His concrete artworks can be seen as miniature maps that reflect remnants of childhood memories, present concrete blockades and watch tours as well as Palestinian neighborhoods from a bird’s eye view.

Yazan Abu Salameh participated in two group exhibitions at the Walled Off Hotel Gallery: the 2nd organized in 2018 and the 4th organized in 2019. He won a third prize in the competition “Let’s make it glow” which allowed him to exhibit in Italy in a group exhibition held in cooperation with Turin Municipality in 2019. Most recently he participated in Ramallah Art Fair at Zawyeh Gallery in 2020.

Days: Thursdays and Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:30/7:30 pm.

Workshop fees: 550 Shekel.

Workshop Outline:

Session 1: Introduction to Urban Sketching with Ink

Overview: Introduction to urban sketching as a form of artistic expression and an overview of ink sketching materials e.g. black ink, pens, sizes, paper.

Activities:

• Basic exercises to get comfortable with handling ink tools and loosen hand movement.
• Introduction to contour drawing and line weight.

Session 2: Understanding Perspective in Urban Sketching

Overview: A deep dive into perspective drawing principles for urban scenes, exploring one-point and two-point perspective.

Activities:

• Guided exercises to practice drawing simple geometric forms in perspective.
• Sketching simple urban scenes focusing on perspective lines and vanishing points.
• Analysis of perspective in photographs and real-life urban environments.

Session 3: Capturing Architectural Details

Overview: Techniques for capturing architectural details in ink sketches, focusing on lines, shapes, and textures of buildings and structures.

Activities:

• Sketching architectural elements such as windows, doors, facades, and rooftops.
• Exploring different ink techniques to depict textures like brick, concrete, and glass.

Session 4: Adding Depth and Atmosphere

Overview: learning shading techniques to create depth through contrast and value in urban scenes.

Activities:

• Understand light sources and shading with ink techniques.
• Practice ink sketching urban scenes with emphasis on light and shadow.
• Experiment with cross and dot shading.

Session 5: Composition and Urban Sketching Strategies

Overview: Exploring composition principles for urban sketches, and ways for selecting viewpoints and framing scenes.

Activities:

• Discussing composition techniques such as focal points, leading lines, and framing.
• Sketching urban scenes from different perspectives, focusing on composition.

Session 6: Final Project and Critique

Overview:

• Completion of a final urban sketch project incorporating all learned techniques.
• Group critique and feedback session to review final artworks.

Activities:

• Working on a more elaborate urban sketch project, from personal photographs or on-site observation.
• Sharing final sketches with the group, discussing challenges, successes, and areas for improvement.

Material: From the participant

• A 4 Sketchbook, Canson or anything similar in quality.
• A set of fine liner black ink drawing pens with different tip sizes; including: (0.1mm, 0.3mm, 0.5mm)
• Pencils: HB, B, B, 4B, 6B, 8B
• Eraser and sharpener

انضموا إلينا في رحلة الى عالم الرسم الحضري باستخدام تقنيات الحبر والمنظور مع الفنان يزن أبو سلامة! على مدار ست جلسات، ستغوص في شوارع وأحياء مدينة رام الله لتتعلم كيفية التقاط طاقة وجوهر مدينة رام الله باستخدام وسيط الحبر وتقنيات المنظور.

من تعلم أساسيات رسم المنظور إلى دمج الحبر في رسوماتك، تقدم ورشتنا استكشافاً متكاملا لتقنيات رسم المشاهد الحضرية بالحبر. من خلال إرشاد فناني المنتدى، ستطوّر مهاراتك في التقاط التفاصيل المعمارية، وإضافة طابع شخصي لأعمالك الفنية.

سواء كنت فنانًا أو مبتدئًا ، تقدم ورشتنا بيئة داعمة وملهمة لإطلاق العنان لإبداعك وتعزيز مهاراتك.

مدرب الفنان: يزن أبو سلامة

يزن أبو سلامة وُلد في عام 1993 في القدس. درس الفنون الجميلة في كلية دار الكلمة في بيت لحم في عام 2011 وشارك في عدة ورش عمل بما في ذلك ورشة عمل في السينوغرافيا في كلية القدس في بيت جالا. تعكس أعمال أبو سلامة شجاعة الفنانين الشبان من حيث استخدام وتوزيع المواد على سطح أعماله. يستخدم مزيجًا من الخرسانة والحصى والأسلاك المختلطة بقطع ليغو ورسومات. يمكن النظر إلى أعماله الخرسانية على أنها خرائط صغيرة تعكس بقايا ذكريات الطفولة وحواجز الخرسانة الحالية وجولات المراقبة بالإضافة إلى أحياء فلسطينية من منظور الطائرة. شارك يزن أبو سلامة في معرضين جماعيين في معرض فندق الجدار الثاني المنظم في عام 2018 والرابع المنظم في عام 2019. حصل على الجائزة الثالثة في مسابقة "لنجعله يتلألأ" مما سمح له بالمشاركة في إيطاليا في معرض جماعي أقيم بالتعاون مع بلدية تورينو في عام 2019. شارك مؤخرًا في معرض رام الله للفن في معرض زاوية في عام 2020.

اللقاء الأولى: مقدمة في رسم المناظر الحضرية بالحبر

• نظرة عامة: مقدمة في رسم المناظر الحضرية كشكل من أشكال التعبير الفني ونظرة عامة على مواد رسم المناظر الحضرية مثل الحبر الأسود، الأقلام، الأحجام، الورق:

• تمارين أساسية للتعود على التعامل مع أدوات الحبر وتخفيف حركة اليد.
• مقدمة في رسم التحديد ووزن الخط.

اللقاء الثانية: فهم المنظور في رسم المشاهد الحضرية

استكشاف مبادئ رسم المنظور للمشاهد الحضرية، استكشاف المنظور الأحادي والثنائي:

• تمارين موجهة لممارسة رسم الأشكال الهندسية البسيطة بتصور.
• رسم مناظر حضرية بسيطة مركزة على خطوط التصور ونقاط الاختفاء.
• تحليل التصور في الصور الفوتوغرافية والبيئات الحضرية الحقيقية.

اللقاء الثالث: التقاط التفاصيل المعمارية

تقنيات لتسجيل التفاصيل المعمارية في رسومات الحبر، مركزة على الخطوط، الأشكال، والملمس للمباني والهياكل:

• رسم عناصر معمارية مثل النوافذ، الأبواب، الواجهات، والأسطح.
• استكشاف تقنيات الحبر المختلفة لتصوير الملمس مثل الطوب، الخرسانة، والزجاج.

اللقاء الرابع: إضافة العمق والجو

تعلم تقنيات الظل لإنشاء عمق من خلال التباين والقيم في المناظر الحضرية:

• فهم مصادر الضوء والظل بتقنيات الحبر.
• ممارسة رسم مناظر حضرية بالحبر مع التركيز على الضوء والظل.
• تجربة التظليل المتقاطع والنقطي.

اللقاء الخامس: التكوين واستراتيجيات الرسم الحضري

استكشاف مبادئ التكوين للرسومات الحضرية، وطرق اختيار نقاط الرؤية وتأطير المشاهد:

• مناقشة تقنيات التكوين من نقاط التركيز، الخطوط الموجهة، والتأطير.
• رسم مشاهد حضرية من منظورات مختلفة، مركزة على التكوين.

اللقاء السادس: المشروع النهائي والتقييم

استكمال مشروع رسم حضري بالحبر يدمج جميع التقنيات المتعلمة:

• العمل على استكمال مشروع رسم حضري أكثر تفصيلًا.
• تقيم جماعي باستعراض الرسوم النهائية، ومناقشة التحديات والنجاحات والمجالات التي يمكن تحسينها.

المواد: من المشارك:

• دفتر رسم بحجم 4، من Canson أو مماثل في الجودة.
• مجموعة من أقلام الحبر السوداء ذات الأطراف المختلفة؛ بما في ذلك: (0.1 مم، 0.3 مم، 0.5 مم)
• أقلام رصاص: HB، B، B، 4B، 6B، 8B.
• ممحاة ومبراة.
